Meeting my Teacher and his Book of Wisdom
Tshewang Yeden from Bhutan writes: “One of my friends once received a prize for her participation in an event. All of my friends, including myself, were excited to see what was really in the small rectangular gift bag. When she opened it, she was surprised to see a Buddhist book, because we usually don’t get a Buddhist book as prize. The title of the book caught my attention and I immediately asked her to let me read it first.
Never in my life had I read a book before. This book was so real that each and every chapter inspired me to move ahead with uplifted interest. I am so glad that I came across this book, or else I would have not have known who Sogyal Rinpoche is, or what he has done to convert this non-Bhutanese believer into a sole believer.
Reading some of the stories shared on this site is a blessing in disguise and I believe everyone here are my Dharma Friends. Thanks for the beautiful articles that you have shared. I have learned a lot.
I envy the fact that many friends here are students of H.E Sogyal Rinpoche and are receiving teachings and blessings from him often. Nevertheless, I did had the opportunity to listen to him. The way he gave his teaching…I was touched so deeply, and at some point it brought tears in my eyes. His child-like laughter pierced my heart with limitless wisdom. Thought this was the only opportunity I have had, I hope more will come in future.
Tsem Trulku said: “Practicing Dharma is hard, but not practicing it is even harder”. I think it is so true. Practicing Dharma is hard because it says not to do what we have always been doing. I feel I have taken a small step today and will continue further taking one step at a time. Reading The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying has taught so much, and now it is time for me to apply practically. At the end of the day, facing death is not easy. The book has taught me to face death and that death is certainly uncertain. So I’d better get started with the work before death strikes me as a total stranger. Thank you My Holy Teacher for bringing me into the light of wisdom, which I thought I would never encounter….May you live long and may your teaching reach every corner of the world! I take refuge to Buddha, Dharma and Sangha. Ken Cho Sum la Kheno!
